How to determine the required power of an electric boiler?

The choice of an electric boiler of the appropriate capacity is a key factor in determining the efficiency of the installation. In this case, the performance of the boiler should not be too high. An incorrectly selected boiler can negatively affect the amount of electricity bills.

If the building was built using modern energy-saving technologies, a simple formula can be used to determine the power of the heating boiler:

building area (square meters) x room height (meters) x 30 (W / m3 ratio) / 1000

The result obtained in this way will indicate the estimated heat requirement of the building in kilowatts, while the minimum output of a correctly selected boiler will usually be higher. For example, a house with an area of ​​120 square meters and a room height of 2.65 will require 9.54 kW (120 x 2.65 x 30/1000 = 9.54). For the given example, you should choose a single-function electric boiler with the lowest possible power, at least 15-20% higher than the calculated one.

In practice, a 12 kW boiler would be ideal. When choosing a combined boiler, water heating according to the flow principle, the minimum boiler power should be 24 kW, otherwise there will be too little hot water.
