Xiaomi Soocas X3 electric toothbrush review
We all know from childhood that the oral cavity should be looked after with a toothbrush at least twice a day in order to remove plaque, avoid caries, and, in the end, avoid unpleasant sensations from diseases of the teeth and gums. Previously, this had to be done manually, with an ordinary toothbrush. In today’s world, various increasingly smart electrical appliances make life easier for us by taking over the effort in various processes and managing them. Toothbrushes have also become electric, with different modes and other “bells and whistles”. In our review, we will take a look at Xiaomi Soocas X3, which, as expected, will have a sufficient number of “smart” functions related to the application on a smartphone connected via Bluetooth.
Before we take a closer look at a specific model, let’s dive a little into the theory. There are three types of electric toothbrushes:
Standard (mechanical). This type, according to the cleaning principle, is similar to ordinary toothbrushes, since movements with large amplitude and frequency are made here, visible to the naked eye. Accordingly, contaminants are simply mechanically removed from the surface of the teeth. Such devices are inexpensive, have no contraindications, but are not as effective as the other two types.
Sound. They also work on the basis of mechanical vibrations that have the frequency of sound (thousands of vibrations per minute). Xiaomi Soocas X3 in the maximum intensity mode makes 37,200 vibrations per minute, so it is sonic (on the Internet it is described as ultrasonic, but this is a mistake).
Ultrasonic. Under the bristles of the head is a piezoceramic plate that oscillates at a very high frequency (millions of vibrations per minute). The bristles also begin to oscillate and break down soft plaque, remove harmful microorganisms from the teeth, and then the movements that the toothbrush user makes remove all this to the side. Moreover, ultrasound accelerates the absorption of fluoride from toothpaste, improves blood supply to the gums. The disadvantage of ultrasonic brushes is that they can have a destructive effect on fillings, veneers, crowns, and also worsen the course of some diseases.
It is worth noting that the procedure for brushing your teeth with any of the listed electric toothbrushes should last no longer than the time recommended by the manufacturer or your doctor.
Design and management
Most electric toothbrushes on the market have a distinctive medical device-inspired design. Soocas X3 has an appearance in the spirit of modern minimalism, characteristic of Xiaomi.
The body of the brush is smooth, cylindrical, without bumps and edges. The base is flat, so the brush can be placed on a flat surface.
The housing is IPX7 waterproof, meaning the brush can be submerged under water.
The nozzle holder is made of metal.
We got a black brush for review. The control button is gold in color.
At the top of the case, at the junction with the nozzle, there is a golden ring.
On the lower end there is a shiny concave insert, also of a golden hue.
On the toothbrushes of most well-known manufacturers, we will immediately see a lot of indicators and controls. Here, only one mechanical button on the entire body catches the eye.
The fact is that the color of the indicators is not much lighter than the body, and therefore, in the inactive state of the brush, they are almost invisible.
When active, they light up and become visible.
There are six indicators in total, the top four indicate various operating modes. Below is a Bluetooth connection indicator and a battery charge indicator.
The brush control is quite logical — using the main button, four modes are sequentially switched:
Basic cleaning mode. The frequency in this mode is 31,000 vibrations per minute. Designed for daily use.
Sensitive mode — sensitive mode. Reduced power mode. If for any reason intensive cleaning is contraindicated for you (for example, you wear braces, dentures, you have implants, and so on), then it is recommended to use this mode.
Gum care mode (beginner mode). In this mode, a massage effect is achieved, which is most gentle on the gums. Recommended for those who suffer from bleeding gums, have mouth ulcers, have recently had their teeth extracted, and so on. This mode is also recommended for the first week or two when switching from a regular toothbrush to allow the gums to adapt to the new brushing method.
Whitening mode. It uses the maximum frequency — 37200 oscillations per second, while, judging by the sensations, the brush seems to pulsate, interrupting oscillations for a split second, and then resuming them again, and so on several times per second. The mode is designed to clean the teeth from dark plaque caused by smoking, drinking coffee, and so on.
There are three types of tips for Xiaomi Soocas X3:
Soocare Clean is the main nozzle for those who do not have pathologies.
Soocare Inter — for people with sensitive gums, dentures and implants.
Soocare Mini is a small nozzle designed to remove plaque from coffee and smoking.
Xiaomi Soocas X3 has a built-in G-Sensor, which determines its orientation in space. The brush itself monitors which side of the teeth you brush and turns off so that you switch to the other.
Xiaomi would not be itself if their toothbrush did not connect to a smartphone via Bluetooth.
In this case, the Soocas application is used for such a connection.
It allows you to monitor the battery charge, the time of use of the nozzle.
Here are the daily statistics.
You can set the cleaning time, turn-on delay to prevent splashing. It is allowed to add 30-second periods of whitening, gum massage and tongue cleaning to the main cleaning.
Battery and Charging
Soocas X3 comes with a very convenient docking station, into which the brush is inserted with its lower part.
Charging in this case occurs according to the inductive principle, there are no electrical contacts either on the docking station or on the brush itself. This is very convenient, since you can not be afraid that the brush body is wet after use.
The docking station itself is connected via USB, there is no AC charger included.
The battery has a declared capacity of 1000 mAh, which should be enough for 25 days of use. True, the brush is charged for a relatively long time — 16 hours. The indicator of the degree of charge is quite clear, so it is very difficult to miss the moment when it is discharged.
Brushing your teeth is not as simple a procedure as it might seem: it must be done twice a day, at a certain time, with a certain technique. With an ordinary toothbrush, you need to take care of all this yourself, and Xiaomi Soocas X3 does everything for you. Moreover, it has different modes for different users, with different conditions of teeth and gums, the advantages include good workmanship, a modern way of charging.
There is also a functional application here, however, many have problems connecting to the brush. This is the only complaint about this device, if it does not bother you, you can safely purchase Xiaomi Soocas X3.
